A walk on the Beach…

Just walking around on Hermosa Beach when the weather was a little less pleasant and left the beach a little empty, I grabbed a chance for this late afternoon shot with the new Sony A7Rii and an old Canon FD 28mm manual focus just topped it off with a few sailing boats enjoying the high breeze before  returning to Redondo King Harbor…

Save Armstrong! Save the Orangutan’s

Hi all,

I thought you might like to take a look at this site. Save Armstrong.com, You can help the endangered Orangutans in the rainforests of the island of Sumatra, Their habitat is under threat from deforestation at an alarming rate for the growth of the oil palm. The natural habitat is disappearing fast not only for the Orangutans but for the elephants, rhino and tigers too. These forests can be protected and the trees replanted with our help…

Tree

I just donated and chose an area to plant a sapling. You can keep a check on it and feel part of something worthwhile for very little. Just take a look and see what you think…

Photos from Calico Ghost Town

Hi All,

I was passing by Calico Ghost Town the other week on the way back from Vegas and decided to stop by. It was just around five in the afternoon and the sun was getting low. Most people had left for the day and we just managed to slip in. It was great, quiet and a just a little creepy!! This is an old silver mining town in the Californian Mojave desert off Interstate 15. A great place to get some photos of a bit of western history!! I have posted some up on my 500PX site  and on fine art site too.

Located in the Calico Mountains of the Mojave Desert region of Southern California, it was founded in 1881 as a silver mining town, and today has been converted into a county park. Located off Interstate 15, it lies 3 miles (4.8 km) from Barstow and 3 miles from YermoGiant lettersspelling CALICO can be seen on the Calico Peaks behind the ghost town from the freeway. Walter Knott purchased Calico in 1950s, architecturally restoring all but the five remaining original buildings to look as they did in 1880s. Calico received California Historical Landmark #782

Mike Hope Photo Site New Look!

Hi All,

I recently changed the look to my photo web site mikehopephotos.com I think you might enjoy it!! Feel free to take a look and let me know what you think. I am taking more shots with the Canon 6D and 24 – 105mm lens as well as the Canon EOS-M, which is great for quick shots on the go. I am really liking the 6D and am going to take a few more shots with the 40mm pancake. This is a fun lens for portrait and DOF shots. Real sharp for a great price too!! Anyway nuff for now, and let me know what you think of the new site!

Hi All,

I took this with the Canon EOS-M 22mm hand held outside the Stanley Kubrick exhibit at the LACMA and then gave it a little grunge/street work in post. Still playing with the Canon EOS-M and am about to get a vintage 50mm f/1.4 to try out!! I will post some more when I have given it a try. Thanks for taking a look,
