A Manhattan, New York evening shot from Brooklyn as the sun went down and a 50’s filter was used to give this an old time feeling. This was shot from a high rise in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on the 27th floor through double pain glass so there is a little double reflection an some areas. Hope you like it!

Had a great trip out to Vasquez Rocks near Aqua Dulce last weekend. It was late afternoon but managed to get a few shots before the sun went down. It is definitely worth a trip.

Also, just down the road there is a Farm Sanctuary where you can visit for an hour or two and find out some very interesting, and sometimes disturbing, facts about the animals and how they arrived at the sanctuary. Definitely worth a visit and the folks at the sanctuary really do a great job in caring and looking after the animals.
Thanks for taking a look and have a great day out!!

Hi all,
I just tried out Blurb to publish a photobook (Photographs by Mike-Hope) of some of my black and white shots. It is up on Blurb right now and thought you might like to take a look. I am going to publish it in tablet form too so it will be easier to review and download through Amazon (only if you like it of course). If you have any comments or any of the photos take your fancy let me know…

About the Book
Just travelling around over the past 8 years or so, snapping places and images of interest that I felt might look good in black and white, or near black and white as in some of the photos. A varied collection of some 72 pages that I hope you enjoy…

Just uploaded a rework of New Dawn. Laid back relaxing down tempo track with ambient ocean and bird sounds. Sounds like you are on the edge of a tropical forest with the ocean near by. Hope you like it…

Hi All,
I was thinking of changing the site name to mike-hope.net as I am no longer in Hermosa so technically not an hermosaman 🙂 So maybe Mike-Hope.net would be more appropriate…
Thanks for taking a look…
Hi all,
I was researching a bit more on the Hope line from Scotland and uncovered some interesting facts and circumstances surrounding the Hope Diamond and Henry Philip Hope who came into possession of the diamond in the 1800’s after it’s disappearance from King Louis the XVI during the French Revolution. There is a fascinating Smithsonian documentary, Mystery of the Hope Diamond which unravels the diamonds origins, travels and alleged curse…

THE FAMOUS AND INFAMOUS JEWELLERY COLLECTIONS OF HENRY PHILIP HOPE
Henry Philip Hope (Hope Diamond) Smithsonian
Henry Philip Hope (1774-1839) brother of Thomas Hope, was a wealthy British banker with an affinity for fine art and precious gems. An 1839 catalogue of his gem collection mentions a large blue diamond weighing 45.5 carats. The diamond would take his name, becoming known as “Hope’s Diamond” or the “Hope Diamond.”
