We were down in San Jan Capistrano last weekend and I came across these water lilies in the Mission area. They were so colorful and reminded me of Monet’s famous water lily collection I had viewed earlier in the year whilst visiting the de Young in San Francisco, so I gave it a bit of a painterly feel. Hope you like it…
Been playing around with a great on phone mobile editor ToolWiz. It is very comprehensive and has some cool features. Actually loads of cool features. If you love taking photos and editing on the go this is a definite for your mobile device. It is so much fun!! Wish they had a PC app and I’d give up photoshop, well maybe!!
Just playing around with some older pics and turned this late summer photo into an autumn “Bridge to Darkness”, slightly surreal look picture. I think it leads you into a foreboding scene where only you imagination can hint at what you might find!!!

Hi all, take a look at this new site from VSCO I have posted some fun pics from my cell phone processed with VSCO film filters to give them that old film look. VSCO FILM actually makes professional filters for Lightroom “The gold standard of digital film emulation for Adobe Lightroom & Adobe Camera Raw.” which I still have to try!! I have downloaded a free pack so I will let you know… I have also started a b&w upload and beach journal of a different take on the beach… It’s fun and it’s free. So if yo have an iPhone or android and enjoy photography you should really give it a go…
Thought you might to check out my new photo page on Facebook… It is a pretty cool idea if you have items you’d like to sell, or services you want to offer… It’s free, but if you want to promote your page it will cost you a few bucks. Check it out at MikeHopePhotos and see what you think!!
This is a photograph I thought you might like that I took of Petworth house approaching from an old cart track towards an old giant tree. There are two figures in the distance approaching the house. It is late afternoon and the clouds were beginning to gather. It just had that moody effect and classic english country side feel. It reminds me of famous painting but I’m still trying to find it. The grounds were designed by Capability Brown. J. W Turner and Anthony Van Dyck used to hang out there, amongst others, so I am sure one of them painted a similar scene… Let me know if you have any ideas!

I got a really nice reply from Gustavo Moniz Ferreira who saw my photo on 500px and did a little research on a painting I shot displayed at the above Petworth House. He found out that the painting of the table (below) is called “Gulliver Presented to the Queen of Brobdignag” and the author is Charles Robert Leslie. The picture was painted in 1834/35 and has the dimensions of 100 x 123 cm.

I recently changed the look to my photo web site mikehopephotos.com I think you might enjoy it!! Feel free to take a look and let me know what you think. I am taking more shots with the Canon 6D and 24 – 105mm lens as well as the Canon EOS-M, which is great for quick shots on the go. I am really liking the 6D and am going to take a few more shots with the 40mm pancake. This is a fun lens for portrait and DOF shots. Real sharp for a great price too!! Anyway nuff for now, and let me know what you think of the new site!
