Manhattan Pier in Black and White by Mike-Hope. Still using the Sony A7Rii and loving it more each day. Saving up for some good Sony Zeiss lenses so still using an old Canon 24-70 hand held for these quick shots on the way home…

Here’s one I shot yesterday evening in color…

Playing around on the beach this weekend with the Sony A7Rii and an old Canon 28mm FD f/2.8 manual focus. It really takes some nice shots, very clear if you get the focus right…

Hope you like it.

Hi all,

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving… We were up in Sonoma for the weekend and I had a chance to get out and about with the new Sony A7Rii . I got a couple of shots in the Benziger Winery in Glen Ellen with an old Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L series and they came out quite well… I’ll post some more soon and thanks for taking a look!

New Sony A7R ii Pics now up

Still loving this Sony A7R ii camera and have tried some old FD L series and 35 mm lenses on it. So far really good results…

B&W Pier

I just read an article on why not to move to Sony A7R ii… this was my reply:

Matt is right… (about Ken Rockwell) but so far I’m impressed with the Sony A7RiiOld FD L lenses and on board stabilization, works great and some cool apps!! Like trying new things, then this is good. Gives overall better performance than a Canon 6D with same Canon lenses including 24-70 mm and 17-35 mm and old Yashica, then I’m happy!! Not a professional but I like the results so far. I tried an old Canon FD L 100-300 mm with focus assist and was blown away with the hand held results I couldn’t achieve on the Canon. So I guess  it is what you’re happy with!!

UPDATE: I just found the APS-C/Super 35mm function that compensates for the smaller frame size of APS-C lenses and allows you to use them on the A7Rii. Woweee!! I was going to sell a 12mm wide angle but now comparing it with an L series Canon full frame 17mm – 40mm the 12mm APS-C gives a wider view and operates better (although manual focus) than the L Canon. Love it so far!! Oh, just incase you are interested I also compared the 35mm 1.8 Sony APS-C (around $449) with the Canon 40mm pancake full frame (about $129) and the Canon came out on tops and definitely a keeper. So I guess I’ll be selling the Sony 35mm.

Here’s a wide angle with the Rokinon 12mm APS-C used on the A7Rii. this was a low light off the cuff test where it actually gave more coverage that the Canon full frame 17mm -40mm L series

Out and About with Sony A7Rii

Just started testing the Sony A7rii with Canon 40mm and other Canon L series lenses. One thing I love about this little lens, apart from the price, is the sharpness and quality. On the Sony A7rii when I zoom in to crop there is still so much clarity. Also, there is very little chromatic aberration with this one. Not sure if I can get a lens hood but this is sure to be a new walk around. I don’t know if it’s just me but the angle appears to be more along a 24 to 35mm on this Sony. I’ll have to do some comparisons and let you know…

The Bridge to Autumn…

Hi all,
Thought you might like to take a look at an autumn photo I took in the UK. The bridge across the river “By Brook” to the Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe UK on the edge of the Cotswolds. A magical “Harry Potter” village. The whole area is a wonderful place to visit and I would recommend it to anyone!!

Mike Hope @ Weebly

Hi all,

I was looking around at good blog site set ups and came across weebly. This is a great alternative to wordpress if you want a lot of features and easy ad ins. I put together a site in around an hour as a test and can easily add content. The great thing is you can get a basic site up for FREE, how good is that. I really like the flow and ease of use and think you should take a look if your considering making your own blog. The site also allows easy upgrade for online store and a host of other options. Of course that’s not to say wordpress isn’t the best!!!

Thanks for checking it out,
